The mechanism that you are attempting to adjust is a mechanical one, not an electrical one. it most likely just needs to be lubricated with a couple of squirts of WD-40. Just get under the steering column and check out the release area, you can see where to squirt the WD-40. A little is all you need! Regards, Joe

When I turn on the headlights of my 1996 Oldsmobile 2.1 L Ciera, smoke pours out from under the dash. I'm told the wiring harness is junk and cannot be replaced. What do you think?

Engine cuts out when steering wheel tilt is adjusted. Also, cruise control not working.

For the cruise control, check the fuses under the steering wheel. As for the engine cutting out, don't adjust the steering wheel while driving.

1996 honda accord, 6 cyl, EX Both low beam headlights went out last night. As far as I know, they were working. Went to Walmart and bought a 2 pack headlisghts and put only 1 in and the low beam (new bulb)...

Check the wire circuit for voltage and ground. The top wire is voltage, you can see the wire color, use a test lite, with lights on. The bottom black wire is ground for low beams, chassis ground. You can use test light to check ground, With test light touching voltage, touch ground wire terminal, if the light comes on, at least, the ground is good enough to lite the test light.

Low headlight lamps don't work

check the fuses first, located either inside the car behind the storage compartment next to the steering wheel, or under the hood, if there all ok, check the wiring harnesses and bulbs, ive noticed that the corolla has had several grounding problems, so check those out and good luck, hope this helps and god bless

The horn and cruise control doesn't work, fuses are

sounds like a bad clockspring. located in steering column under steering wheel, operates airbag, horn cruise etc, it make wire connection possible so the wheel can spin, its a roll of flat wires, that unroll and roll up as steering wheel is truned from left to right, wires break after a while.
