On the Engine/Transaxle Bell Housing area on front side of the engine compartment. (the mounting bolts for the starter go through the transaxle bell housing near the motor mount.)

Testimonial: "thank you very much your last comment is exactly what i needed"

You can probably not see it from the top. It is on the front side of the engine. Look underneath near the front motor/transaxle mount where the engine block mounts to the transmission bell-housing. I don't know any other way to explain it. It is in the same location on 90% of all cars that have been manufactured in the last 30 years.

Where would i get a diagram to show me where the crank sensor on my 1997 town and country van is

The crank sensor will be located on the back of that engine. By the starter. YouTube has a cool video about it.

2000 town and country chrysler van wont start battery and starter good

It sounds like your immobilizer has kicked in and preventing you from starting. If you have a gray key and the security light is blinking, you will need to get it reprogrammed to restart this vehicle.
Good luck

I was driving my 2000 Chrysler Town and Country when all of a sudden everything in the car turned off, the radio, the heater and everything that took power. I pulled over and turned my van off and opened...

Sounds like it may be your battery cable, which lead from your battery to starter, or it could be the main fuse box overheated, caught small fire, that is located under the hood. I'm thinking more on the battery cable, since it gives power to your fuse box, reason I say this is, If there was nothing wrong with the battery area cables or main fuse box, then you would still have power, since the battery supplies the power.
