I own a 2007 equinox. I had the oild changed today. During the oil change they attempted to replace my drivers side headlight bulb. There was to much stuff for them to remove so they didnt replace the bulb. AS soon as my car was restarted the Service stabilitrak light came on and now there is no power steering. What can I do to fix this with out going to a shop just yet. Im guessing that its not hardware related since it started when I had the oil changed

2008 Equinox steering quit. It was the mega 80 fuse, and a $6.00 fix. I have NEVER boosted anyone, so not sure what happened. Will see if it goes again but sure hope it was just a one time incident.

It is possible that when the place doing the oil change attempted to replace the headlight bulb that they might have disconnected a wiring harness or shorted something out when they attempted to disconnect wiring to replace the bulb. Now I believe the Equinox has electric steering so an electrical problem could cause the power steering loss. I would check all the fuses in the fuse box and verify that there are not any that are burned out. If all the fuses are good then you will need to take it to the dealership and have them inspect it. You could also visually look under the bumber where the headlight is and see if you notice any loose or disconnected wiring connections. Hopefully it is something as simple as a fuse. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Are all the fuses ok or did you find any burned out?

  • Anonymous Nov 18, 2009

If all the fuses are good then it is more than likely that they caused the problem. Proving it is another issue. Take it to the dealership for inspection. They may find evidence that the problem was caused by the place that did your oil change. Then you could go back to them with the information so they can pay the cost of the repairs if there are any. I really doubt it is more than just a coincedence that the problem happened right after thet worked on it.

When you pull the fuse you can see if the little wire inside the fuse is burned out or broken.

No power steering and service stabilitrak light was on...... AWD and only had power to the front wheels. End result needed a new power steering motor. The motor controls the stabilitrak along with the power steering.

How How do i change the headlight bulb on the drivers side of my 2007 Hyundai Entourage?

You have to take the black plastic top off under the hood on the front.....than you take the whole headlight out, I believe it's only two bolts...there is opening for each light and they are pretty simple to change.

2005 chevy equinox headlights went out, only the driver side bright light works. Does this mean the passenger side headlamp is blown?

Sounds like you are right own...to change each bulb...you need to remove the chrome grill from the front center...be sure to pry up the clips carefully so not to break the trim bar...then each headlight assembly is removable with 3 10 mm bolts...do not touch your exposed fingers on the new bulbs...yes the low/high bulb is one unit...that is why I believe it is just your bulbs...about $11. each...Hope this helps.

How do i change the driver side headlight bulb on a 2005 chevrolet equinox?

open the hood - find the 3 or 4 plastic clips that hold on the grill ( the center of the clip will pry up with a small screwdriver ) once the plastic clips are removed pull the grill towards you and gently pull on the headlight frame assembly. The grill will not come off so don't try to force it. Once you have the headlight assembly out remove the bulb that beeds replacing ( when replacing do not touch with bare skin use a rag or paper towel ) Put it all back together reversed from removing it. Hope this helps

Headlights need changing

Your headlights are not sealed beams. You have to find the light. You have to twist the bulb bracket a quarter of a turn in order to unlock it. You pull the bracket out and change the bulb. Do NOT touch the new bulb with your bare hands. The oil from your skin will cause the halogen bulb to get tooo hot and will burn out. When you change your bulb, you might as well change both of them.

Bulbs keep burning out

When you replace headlights in today's cars, DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS OF THE BULB!. Handle the bulb only with the packing material the bulb ships in, or with a clean dry cloth. The oils in your skin will cause premature failure of the bulb.

Also, check the sockets (car side) carefully to make sure they are not burned.
