I have a jaguar x type 20003, can you tell me where the 20 amp micro relay is for reversing lights /parking aid is.

The licence plate lights are part of the parking lights circuit. Fuse port #20 Parking Lamps. This is located in the engine compartment. This fuse box is called a Power Distribution Box. Just in case, this circuit also has a micro relay inside the same box. This particular micro relay is #55.

You'll need to find a friend or a shop with a quality scan tool that can read the range selector switch position. It's possible that the car simply doesn't know you put the shifter in reverse.

I am having the same problem with my 2004 XJ8. The shifter is in the park position but the reverse light is on. The car thinks it is reverse despite the shifter postion at park. I am unable to get it out of park position or start the engine.

Sensor fault more than likley. Best way to check is to get up close to the sensors whilst the car is in reverse gear and the and the engine is off but the ignition is on. Rest your thumb nail on each sensor and if a tick cannot be heard then this shows a sensor fault. The tick is very quiet though.

If all are ok it may be a module fault

If your car has more relays that are configured the same take on with you to any local aftermarket auto supply sor and they should be ablr to match it.

Sticky transmission I call that. Go see a few garages and a few quotes with guarantee on workmanship..
Mind you I started on big trucks with Allison transmissions and we overhauled those.
Too long a story to explain those transmissions.

This is a shared fuse, if you remove it you will lose other services. As your reverse aid sounds all the time it has a probable fault in the module or wiring. The module is located in the left hand side lower boot. To disable - pull the plugs from the module until you get it checked out. These modules often suffer from dampness in the boot as it is prone to leaking. sometimes just removing and refitting the plugs and then spraying with a water dissipating spray (WD 40) often brings them back to life once they have dried out.
