First off, please be sure the vehicle is supported properly on jack stands. You will need to remove the cotter pin on the lower ball joint nut, and remove the nut. You will also need to remove the outer tie rod cotter pin and nut as well. After removal, use the appropriate ball joint, and tie rod seperator tools to separate the two. You can then pry down on the lower control arm, releasing the lower ball joint from the spindle assy. Then slide the spindle assy off the axle shaft. You will then need to remove the axle from the transmission, using either a long prybar, or something similar, be careful as to not damage the transmission case, and seal during removal. Once removed, install the new axle into the transmission, be sure that it is in all the way, and the circlip is locked into place at the end of the axle. Slide the axle back into the spindle assy, and attach your ball joint, tie rod, and axle retaining nut. Torque to spec. Be sure to check the level of your transmission fluid once you have completed the repair, as often some fluid will leak out when the halfshaft is removed.
Separate the ball joint and the tie rod from wheel unit and swing it out far enough to slip axle out of wheel, pry it out of trans and replace
