On a 2004 Avalanche, the brakes lock on the right side of the trailer without brake pedal application and controller sending minimal power. Brakes have been adjusted and all 4 tires have equal pressure.

Fluid level is too high in reservoir

Hi, the instructions may be confusing. You need to hook the sense wire to the cold side of the stoplight switch--not the stop lamps. The stoplight switch is above the brake pedal. Am I making sense?
It sounds like the electric brake (Blue Wire) from your truck is in the wrong location in the socket from your truck
or
check the connection to the brake pedal it has a wire that goes to it(Usually) white or red it may be connected to the wrong side of the switch
one side has power at all times the other only when you hit the brake most likely this is the problem. the wire needs current only when the truck brakes are depressed.................Good Luck
dosen't stop at all or just slow?, if the abs is working then you should feel the pulseing in the brake pedal just before tire lock-up, the tires will not lock-up with abs fully funtioning unless all four tires or two are in lock-up depending on the abs application, if abs fails it reverts it self to regular braking ability, hope this helps
I found the problem. Talking with a technician from the controller company, we determined that it was a fuse problem. I found that the fuse to the CHMSL was blown.
