I have 1999 avaloon and would like to know What are the uses of high raise of the engine (RPM)while starting it morning time or after few hours of parking? It is above 1.5 rpm. How can I make it tiny? Because it takes me 4 to 5 minutes when I start the engine morning time and 3 to 4 min during lunch break (after parking for 8 hrs) Regards
ABD
SOURCE: usage of some switces
1 - that's the traction control system. The Avalon has the defeat switch, but I don't really know why. It's usually a feature on performance cars to allow the driver to slide the car, break the tires loose, etc, when desired. Leaving the system on defeats wheelspin and keeps the car more stable and less crash-prone. It's not a performance car, so the ability to defeat it kind of baffles me.
2 - EST power - I'm not familiar with that one
3 - O/D is overdrive. Leave the button engaged most of the time - it controls the transmission and commands it to upshift as soon as possible. This keeps the RPM lower and the fuel economy better. Generally, this is a good thing, and you'd really only want to turn off the O/D if you're driving up and down in a lot of hills (to keep the transmission from hunting between gears) or in heavy stop-and-go traffic (ie, in Manhattan), to keep it from constantly shifting.
SOURCE: high idling at low temp.
Hi,
Offhand, yes this would be normal. The high idle is brought about by the auto choke whose purpose is to hasten the reaching of operating temperature of the engine. The fact that the idle RPM goes down after some time is a good indicator, it tells us that the auto choke is working.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
SOURCE: Man, I've got issues. I thank you guys for taking
sounds like you may need to replace the idle speed control motor(actual sensor)its not reading the signal from the ecu properly hope this helps you by the way this sensor is self adjusting if that doesent solve your problem then have your timing checked to make sure your still in time.
Testimonial: "Thanks for the info."

not sure exactly what you mean but iam assuming you mean the ABS light comes on then the vehicle stops ?' if this is the case clean the sensors on each wheel as they could be dirty with a lot of metal dust sticking to the sensors ,which is throwing the light on which is causing the computer to detect a fault and shut the car down
