Is it possible to program my 2001 Santa Fe Key fob without going to dealer and spending $42 for three minutes of work?
Change the batteries then start the car and close it and press the key it should work
1 Find black box immediately behind fuse panel on left of panel under steering whee l. The black box approx. 5" x 3" has a "off/set" switch at the right rear of the box. May need to move wire harness to see.the switch.( It's easier to remove the knee pannel. First remove the interior dimmer control and housing by prying out with small blade screwdriver; then remove electric connection, set aside. Next remove three phillips screws and pull knee panel toward you).
2. Leave key out of ignition, it does not need to be on. Remove clear tape from "off/set" switch. Switch toggle to "set" with pick or small screwdriver.
3. Push "lock" on new remote(s) up to two. You will see little red led light on remote blink. You will hear nothing.
4. Move "off/set" toggl back to "off".
5. Test remote(s) It worked today 9/24/14 on my 2002 Santa Fe.
6. Replace knee panel and dimmer control unit.

Well, you basically have only 3 choices:
1. Pay the fee at the dealership
2. Purchase the high-dollar equipment that is required to perform the programming procedure
3. Forget about adding another key fob to tor vehicle.

DESCRIPTION:
The security system keyless adapter cable (SPX/Kent-Moore P/N 09900-21300) is a special service tool (SST) that is used for programming new keyless entry remote transmitters to the factory security systems. The keyless adapter is used in conjunction with the Hi-Scan Pro (with Hi-Scan SOL Pro Software Version 09-29-03 or newer) and Data Link Connector (DLC) Cable.
