1990 Porsche 911 Carrara 2 Targa. Slight smell of burning oil inside car when driving. Car runs great and no smoke from exhaust. Slight oil leak passenger side of engine. Healeysbyknut !

It's probably OK to drive. I imagine they failed to get the oil filter properly seated and you're getting a little leak there. DO BE SURE to check the oil level before you drive it and add if necessary.

can you smell the smoke,does it smell like anti-freez or oil, if anti-freez there would be steam come out or maybe some water out of the tailpipe,you may have a head gasket problem, or crack somewhere in the head. if the smoke smells like oil ,you may need a valve job.your valve guilds may be let oil seep into the camber when setting.when you start the car up the oil is burnt off.

The oil was overfilled this could cause a large amount of oil to enter the exaust and possibly the intake depending on crank case ventilation conditions. If you are positive engine oil levels are adjusted perfectly(warm engine check level running for dry sump oil level ect.). Time is needed to burn off oil residue in exhaust system and intake. Warm up engine low rpm no load, drive vehicle slow with little boost over 5 mins slowly raise rpms for another 5 mins keep driving smoke will burn off while making other drivers mad. sorry just smile and wave.
The engine oil on this vehicle should only be changed by an experinced tech.

YOU TWO WINDOWS NOT WORKING OR ONE OF POWER WINDOW NOT WORKING. IF YOU HAVE TWO WINDOWS NOT WORKING YOU SHOULD CHECK THE HUGE BOX. IF ONE WINDOW NOT WORKING YOU SHOULD FULL OUT WORKING WINDOW SWITCH AND REPLACE WITH NOT WORKING SWITCH. IF IT DOES NOT WORKING YOU HAVE POWER WINDOW MOTOR.

Your 1993 911 has electronic fuel injection. When the engine is cold, it automatically richens the fuel mixture. This is the equivalent of closing the choke on an old car or tractor with a carburetor. When the car is going down hill, the car is not burning this excess fuel. You are smelling it coming from the exhaust. Once the car warms up, the engine computer automatically leans out the fuel mixture, essentially turning off the choke. Now you don't smell the fuel.

You likely have an oil leak that is running onto something hot. When the car is stopped, the smoke and smell comes out from under the hood and gets drawn inside the car through the air intake just in front of the windshield.

If you are getting clouds of white smoke out the exhaust it is a good indicator of antifreeze getting into one or more of the cylinders. I bought a "Great" car sight unseen from a friend once and when he pulled in the drive the whole car disappeared in a cloud of white smoke that only left when he shut the engine off. I found head gasket leaks in half the cylinders. It takes very little coolant to cause the white smoke. If you are absolutely sure of zero coolant loss perhaps the smoke is a little blue--an indication of burning a little oil from a sloppy turbo bearing. Try the nose test-- it may give you the answer. Burning oil has a distinctive smell.

Blueish smoke is probably excess fuel. If this is the case, the exhaust should smell gassy. I'm thinking that one of the injectors is leaking...something injector cleaner wouldn't solve (you may have to buy a new injector if that's the case). I would check the spark plugs to see if one looks different than the others, that way you can narrow it down. I took my injectors for my porsche to www.witchhunter.com to have my injectors checked and found that a couple of them were leaking so bad they couldn't be fixed. If you send in your injectors to him and any of them are leaky/unrepairable, he won't charge you for them. :)

White smoke is caused by coolant or water coming out the tail pipe. There is a chance that the white smoke was caused by water splashing up from a puddle onto the exhaust pipe. Keep an eye on the coolant level in the radiator in any event. If its less then there leak coolant leak in the car engine which is causing this problem....
