Car does not shift when cold

on this year 93 is a computer for the transmission and its the big box on the firewall next to the engine computer. should be on passenger side top firewall. mine is the same year and that totally controls the shifting and all if its bad you will be going fast and all of a sudden it will downshift to lower speed then stop. then turn off for a few mins and it will go again. but this baffled the best of mechanics until my husband figured it out. since he had already rebuilt the transmission.

stuck valve in the tranny in cold weather let it warm up before driving it then put it in neutral and warm up tranny if it does not slip then it is probably a sticking valve

It's the transmission filter.

You need to change the filter and fluid in your transmission.

Replace battery. The CCA or cold cranking amps can be too low while voltage remains normal. Most the time when this happens the battery only operates properly when cold.

Check the timing belt. The belt can break and it will turn over with the starter but won't fire.

I used to own a 93 and sometimes key wouldn't turn forward. While turning key also turn/shake steering wheel. Worked for me as I recall.

I have the exact same problem. I gotta wait until the D light stops blinking to be able to start my car. I'm trying to figure out this too, but so far I've been able to start my car by simply disconnecting and reconnecting the spark plug wires. Also I shift my car from P to D then back from D to P. I usually wait about 5 minutes before I can start my car.

Also, don't try to start your car when its blinking D. i tried that before and my car started but it had extremely low power, and my entire car started to shake violently. I had to bring it to the mechanic after that, he said it was a fuel injector problem but I dont believe him.
