2006 Ford F150 XLT 5.4 Engine has a hard time

Hi Jack:
I'd be suspicious of the fuel pump.

You probably have an electronic ignition system to go with those fuel injectors. It sounds like it runs just long enough to empty the fuel out of the injectors, which means there might be a vacuum problem. I'm a carburetor person myself. Are you sure it sound like it NEEDS gas or could it be flooding?

Do you have 2 gas tanks?

You will need to determine if you are lacking spark or fuel when the engine is warmed up and fails to start. It could be the coil, ignition module, a relay, or various other components.

Do you know anything about VCT - Variable camshaft timing ? ETC - electronic throttle control ?

Had a problem like this before and it was the computer..But you could faintly smell something like burnt wires..The computer should be down by the kick panel on the driverside..See if you smell anything on that side

check the fluid level some trannys are very sensitive to correct level

You need to have the ABS system scanned for codes

How many miles on it ? Engine light on ? have it checked for DTC'S -diagnostic trouble codes . could have timing chain issues or a problem with the VVT system - do you know what that is ?
