My driverside back tire locks up on my 4x4 pic up.Its a mazda B4000 le 4x4 its hot and smells of burning. please help 6cyclender 4.0 litre 1996 250 000 km
Hi, it sounds as if the brakes are not releasing on that wheel ,and draging whilst you drive causing it to get hot. easy enough to check ,jack the wheel up and try to turn the wheel ,if it wont turn or a scraping sound is heard ,then that is what the problem is and the wheel needs to come off to find and fix the exact cause.

hi, sorry i have been up to visit my wife in hospital now ----oil on the brake linings can give a burning smell if you get the brakes hot enough,but as i read your post you saidthat tthe driver side rear wheel was locking up ,, if that is the problem ,oil on the shoes is not going to cause lock up ,not by any stretch of the imagination. far more likly to be abrake spring broken, abrake shoe lineing broke and riding up to become jammed over the other side or even abroken anchor pin. the only way you can find out is to take the wheel and brake drum off. even the e brake ,it is all insise that brake drum .please let me know what you find----kerry

U MUST REMVOVE THE WHEEL TO CHECK THE BRAKES FOR OIL CONTAMINATION FROM A POSS LEAKING AXLE SEAL.

Quick thought could (i Hope) it be the E brake locking it up ?
if there is oil on brakes what does that mean?
is that a serious expense?
Hey thanks again, i have been investegating and after 1 or 2 minutes of driving it tends to improve dramatically I hear kinda popping noise(from rear dr side tire) and seems to improve immediately.Tomorrow morning i will pull tire and investegate

pulled tire off no oil, think it is parking brake cable?
pulled tire off ho oil no broke springs everything looks intact think it is in parking brake cable.
DO U HAVE OIL ON THE BRAKE SHOES?
