You need to remove the trim cover on the inside of the trunk lid. it sounds like the solenoid is jamming. the solenoid should flick out against a lever that will release the trunk lid and then return back again within a split second. if it stays out then it is jamming, and thus holding the truncks locking mechanism open.
the solenoid may also jam shut and therefor not release the lock. if you can see this happening then replace the solenoid.

My remote is bad and the button on the door of my 2008 saturn aura xr will not open the trunk

How about a key ?

Luggage Compartment Description and Operation (Sedan)
Rear Compartment Lid Release
The rear compartment lid can be released in one of three ways:
• Inserting the key into the key lock cylinder, if equipped
• Operating the rear compartment lid release switch
• Using the keyless entry fob
To operate rear compartment lid with the rear compartment lid release switch or with the rear compartment release button on the key fob, the gear selector may be in any position, but vehicle speed must equal 0 for the rear compartment lid to release.
When the rear compartment lid release switch is pushed, the rear compartment lid release signal circuit to the body control module (BCM) is grounded. BCM then grounds the coil side of the trunk release relay through the trunk release relay control circuit. With this voltage is applied to the rear compartment lid release actuator, opening the rear compartment.

do you know how to do electrical testing ?

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Trunk Release Switch parameter while pressing and releasing the rear compartment lid release switch. The parameter should change between Active and Inactive.
? If the parameter does not change, refer to Trunk Release Switch Malfunction.
Command the trunk release with a scan tool, the rear compartment lid latch should release the trunk lid.
? If the rear compartment lid latch does not release, refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Malfunction

You may want to take it to a repair shop .

How can i access my trunk in my 2006 impala if my battery is dead

Rear Compartment Lid Release
The rear compartment lid can be released by depressing the rear release button in the glove box or holding either front power door lock switch to the unlock position for a minimum of 2 seconds or by pressing the rear compartment release button on the key fob. The transmission must be in the PARK position for the rear compartment to release. No Key lock on the trunk ?

Locate trunk latch for dodge charger 2014

I'm not sure what you're definition of trunk latch is so let's cover all the bases.

The trunk latch mechanism is inside the trunk well. When you open the truck lid, look down, right in the middle of the back lip that you would have to lift things over to put them in the trunk. The latch mechanism is right there in the middle. While you are looking in the location, look just to the left as you are standing behind the vehicle, and you will see a handle kind of like the pull handle on the end of the cord for your walk behind mower. That is a glow in the dark, emergency pull release for the trunk latch. If you or a child ever got caught in the trunk for some reason, you can pull that handle to manually operate the trunk latch to allow you to open the trunk lid.

On your key FOB, you have a trunk release button as well. If you push that button twice within 5 seconds, the trunk latch will release. You also have a trunk release button to the left of the steering wheel. It's a round button with a picture of a car with an open trunk lid. You can push that to open the trunk lid as well. To use the button inside the car, or the one on the key FOB, the car must have the transmission in park. It will not release the trunk latch if the vehicle is in gear.

Wireless Key Remote door & trunk opener won't work with trunk anymore

When you press the trunk open button, do you hear any "release" noise come from the trunk area? The issue may be a bad battery in the key fob OR there could be an issue with the transmitter located inside the vehicle. Do the doors lock and unlock properly? is the vehicle equipped with security or immobilizer? please advise

Trunk won't open

Lower the back seat and crawl into the trunk and see what the latch is doing when you activate the key fob. the trunk lid will have to be open to enable any repairs. Also an emergency release cable is probably visible (yellow handle) inside the trunk and will Open the trunk lid.

I have a 96 jetta, and my trunk release button doesn't work. how do I fix it. Plus I put the key in the trunk to open it, its always worked, now it doesn't. I need my trunk, I have a small child...

The trunk release rod is made of plastic and it is adjustable, it came apart. You have to fold down the back seat, remove the trunk lid liner and pull on on the plastic piece connected to the latch mechanism on the deck lid. It is a little difficult but is the only way to get in. You can buy the plastic piece from V.W. its cheap. When you install the new piece, use a screw driver to close the latch and try to open it with your key fob or button, this way you won't shut it and not be able to open it because it is not adjusted properly. there should be very little play (movement) between pod and latch if adjusted correctly. The rod connects to a vacuum pod for the key fob to operate the trunk remotely. good driving

Battery needs to be recharged after 3 days of sitting.

There is a slow drian being placed on the battery from one of the VW accessories installed on your bug. I had a very similar problem with my daughter's 1998 Beetle, and the cause was traced back to the hood latch. There's an electrical connection to the hood latch, and when the connection fails it places a slow drain on the battery. Although I'm not fully certain, I beleive the connection is part of the circuit that allows the security system to sense that the doors, hood and trunk are all closed.

I also had a problem with the electrical trunk release actuator, and had to have it replaced once. The remote key fob signals a the electrical actuator to open the trunk lid when the trunk release button on the key fob is pushed. If your trunk release operated normally, you probably do not have an electrical problem by your trunk.

About 60 percent certain you problem is located in your hood release circuit. An experience car nechanic should be able to test this circuit using a hand held electrical meter before it is removed and replaced.

Good luck. My daughter's bug has been acting normally ever since the latch was replaced about 2-3 years ago.

Driver's side door won't open in the cold

.
Power Door Lock Operation (Front Doors)
The front doors do not have traditional door lock actuators. They have electronically controlled door latches that will operate depending on the status of the door lock system. This status is determined by the front door modules and the last known state of the lock system. If the last known state is LOCK, the latches will not release when the door handles are operated. If the last known state is UNLOCK, the latches will release when the door handles are operated. The front doors are also equipped with red door lock status indicators. The front door modules will supply power and ground to the indicators to illuminate them when the lock system is in a virtual state of lock. The indicators will not continuously illuminate when the vehicle is locked. They will illuminate for approximately 5 seconds after a lock switch activation or after a door handle has been operated and the front door modules are in a virtual state of lock. For further information on the front door latches, refer to Power Door Latch Description and Operation .
I would assume they check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ?
DTC B3062 Front Door Key Lock Switch Circuit
• DTC B3067 Front Door Key Unlock Switch Circuit
DTC B3849 Exterior Door Handle Switch Circuit
The left front exterior door handle and right front exterior door handle switch signal circuits provide inputs to the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) when an exterior door handle switch is activated. These inputs allow the door module to detect a door open request. The door modules provide voltage to the door handle switches. If the door module detects that a ground is applied for greater than 30 seconds continuously, a DTC is set and the door module will ignore the door handle switch input.
