Hi There, My Freelander loses power at about 70 mph on hills on motorways and slows down to 60-ish. I have no warning lights coming on, no drop in revs, no exhaust smoke and no overheating. After easing off the accelerator for up to a minute the power returns and I can accelerate away again but it's not long before the problem returns. Acceleration is good during town driving and up to 70 mph on motorways so I suspect it's not a turbo problem. Best Regards Richard Dawson,

If your vehicle slows from 70 downto 60 with no change in revs ,then the transmission is slipping .. imust say i dont believe that the speed drops back without the revs dropping down too, i am not calling you a liar ,i`m saying you are not making accurate observations , and without those we are just guessing .

1999 Dodge Ram van 1500 no pick up power

I had a similiar problem on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion Van. It ended up being a partial collapse of the catalytic converter which didn't allow adequate exhaust. The problem only showed itself because I could not get over 55 mph going up a small hill.

Engine malfunction light came on

As with any check engine light, the only way to find out what the issue is is to have the code read. The dealership can pull the code and let you know what the issue is.
Before considering driving the vehicle to the dealer though, check the obvious: oil level, coolant level, transmission oil level.
If your uneasy, have it towed.
