When you have a check engine light and you get the codes scanned, are they erased and cleared using the same tool or do you need to make the repairs and then get the codes clear? Do you have to do something else to reset the computer?
Cars are outfitted with plenty of electrical system that monitors its working. When something goes wrong it displays a light on your dashboard that pops up "Check Engine." To reset the check engine light, you need to bring your car to a professional mechanic they will check it by the help of engine computer. When the problem gets resolved, the check engine light gets off automatically. Engine Computer for 2009 Acura TSX
The tool should be able to clear the code. but if you dont figure out what set the code it will set the code again.
You can clear the codes with the same tool, but until the repairs are made the code will likely come back. Some codes are just "glitches" and don't come back, but almost all do after time.
You can use the scanner to clear the computer or even disconnect the battery for a minute or two then reconnect it but if the light comes back it needs to be fixed to keep the light off. just fixing the problem won't turn the light off

ok thanks. I had a misfire in cylinder 4. I changed the plugs, wires, coil pack and the injectors and then it ran fine and I had the codes scanned again and it came back no codes no errors. Then 24 hours later it came back, so I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and started it and now the light is gone. If the code comes back even though I changed everything could I have a faulty computer?
what do you mean they come back after time? I had a misfire in cylinder 4 and I changed the plugs, wires, coil pack and injectors and I had a light come back today. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and it hasnt come back in the last 6 hours or so
