first of all, check voltage from alternator. at battery when running, should be at least 13.6-14.2 volts. with every thing off. if lower than 13.6 volts at battery. then alt, is bad. if alt, is ok ! then its the battery. or the battery connections are all corroded at battery post. good-day! make sure the grounds are ok to battery.
You will nee to have the alternator checked, make sure they test it under a load for a while and also make sure battery connections are good and clean. follow the battery cable, the smaller of the two which is the positive side and cable, there are two positive cables coming off the battery. one goes to starter and the other to the fuse/ relay box, make sure where the cable connects to box terminal that its clean and tight. this problem sounds more like an alternator that stops charging enough under a load. a load is when you are using a lot of accessories like the wipers ,radio, heater and headlights, what happens is the alternator is weak and cant keep up and the computer shuts down things when there is not enough voltage to run them, also the battery should be tested also to make sure its holding a good charge and able to accept the charge. you will need to run the engine and turn on all Assyria's and leave them on for a while and have a volt meter on the battery to check the alternator output. good luck.
Follow the positive wire to where it connects. There is a possibility that it is corroded at the battery terminal area along with where it connects to the rest of the vehicle. Double check that the negative side is grounded properly and that connection is not corroded or broken. I believe the positive leads go to the alternator and starter. It will then use those to branch off to the rest of the vehicle. There could also be a positive lead that goes to the fuse block under the hood that feeds the rest of the system. Check all those connections first. Good luck.
any time ya splice a battery cable together, you are going to have problems. You should get a cable from positive post on battery to starter, this should cure problem. also make sure all connections are clean and tight.
Before we get started, are you positive it is the starter ?
You could have dead battery, loose or corroded cables, bad relay. If your sure then,
Here are the steps :
-Remove negative(black)battery cable.
-Remove plastic cover from transmission that covers the starter /ring gear.
-Unbolt starter from engine, and bracket.
-Slowly lower starter, and remove cables, and wires, but MAKE SURE you mark then so you know how they go back on !
-Pull out starter.
-Install in reverse order.
I HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE ITSELF BECOME FAULTY ON THESE VEHICLES..CHECK FOR LOOSENESS OF WIRES RIGHT AT BATTERY CLAMP..ALSO CHECK BATTERY CONNNECTIONS AT UNDERHOOD FUSEBLOCK AND AT STARTER SOLENOID..
