there is a switch on the steering column on most Subarus that turns the parking lights on. This switch is easily bumped while cleaning the dash area. I would almost put money on this being the problem.

1st u need to know if the check engine light comes on there is a fault present, you need to have the system computer tested to get the fault code that is set with the check engine light illumination. the system in your car is very sophisticated and has the ability to work round most system problems, this means u will feel no diff in the way the car runs, u can reset the light by just disconnecting the battery negative for 5 min's, but the light will come back on if the fault is still present.
Limited slip axles require in many cases the additive. It is ***** whale oil that is added to the required gear oil. Ck with Subaru is best. They sell it in the parts department and if capable you can add it yourself. or, have the dealer service your differential fluids. fluids
