Install a radiator on a 1993 Chevrolet Caprice without oil cooler

  • ebbrecords Nov 06, 2009

There are two radiators: one with engine oil cooler and one without. My Caprice needs the one without the engine oil cooler. The transmission cooler is on both and is actually in front of the radiator anyway, but not bolted on the radiator. The transmission lines go into the radiator anyway on the left side under the cap and input hose (when looking in from the front of the car into the engine bay). These are normally on the radiator anyway. I know I need to remove the fan shroud (both upper and lower pieces), but wanted to know if there was anything else I needed to worry about. I replaced a radiator on my 1990 Honda Accord LX last winter, and it was a basic in and out type job).

You install radiator but did not install transmission cooler? Im not quiet understand the your questions? correct me if im wrong, The caprice has engine cooling systems which is the radiator and also a transmission cooler which cool the transmission. make sure you also hook up the transmission cooler, very important which help cool your tranny so it wont over heat.

There is oil in the water, do you think its my oil cooler? And if it is, is the oil cooler attached to the radiator or is it seperate?

It could be the oil cooler if the radiator has gotten a split between the oil cooler and antifreeze compartments.

More likely is that you have a blown head gasket or cracked head or something wrong with the motor.

Oil hose leak 97 4x4 Blazer

Oil cooler lines that lead to your radiator or to a cooler mounted in front of radiator. The hoses are quick couplers with o-rings so there is no way to tighten. I don't know why they would leek so often but they usualy go bad where the rubber line gets crimped to the steel line. Not sure if you can get a different oil filter block without the oil cooler line hook ups. This way you can eliminate the cooler lines,or remove the quick couplers at both ends of where your cooler lines hook up and just run hydraulic hoses in place of your coller lines.Where i live you can get hydraulic hoses made at hundreds of places but may not be so redily avalible where you are.

My 1993 Chevrolet Caprice Classic heat is not getting hot

If your radiator is hot You may have a stopped up heater unit. You can try flushing the water sys. with half white vinegar ,half water. Some times that helps. If not you may have to replace the heater unit. That is a job.

Oil cooler repair on 93 S10 4.3

Does this have a separate oil cooler or do the lines run into the radiator? If they run into the radiator and it leaks oil but not coolant for the engine you can simply get an add on oil cooler. The install really easy. If you have an add on one, I wouldn't mess with trying to fix it. YOu can buy them for about 30 dollars for a good one to replace it.

Engine overheats no mater what I do; but, cools down when I turn on the heater. Also, when accelerating it sounds like a diesel.

replace radiator, check oil. a milkshak looking stuff on the dipstick or in oil pan means you have a bad headgasket or worse. a cracked cyl. head or block.

Adding a tranny cooler to my 1993 Lumina 3.1 Euro

Question is, if the trans cooler in the radiator ALREADY is rusted out, how much life is left in the coolant part of the radiator before IT needs replacing ? Might be a better move, money wise to replace the COMPLETE radiator. rather than a separate cooler. Hope this helps

The 1993 Chevrolet caprice was brought around 1993 and drove for 2 year what should i do before i start the car??

change your oil, spark plugs and spark plug wires and definitely figure out how much gas is in the car and then you should drain and re-fill the tank. To run the old gas through the motor will cause you serious problems. Also the battery should be replaced
