My buick regal stalls when i take off from a stop light. not every time. It runs great on the highway. any ideas. Every time the engine light comes on , I head for the shop and before I get there , the light is out. any ideas ?

Do you hear a sucking noise from under the hood when you apply the brakes? You could have a bad brake booster venting too much engine vacuum when applying the brakes causing the engine to die.

Again, check THE WIRES going to the crank sensor, they run under the engine and cook themselves together.

replace your idle sensor

Having a qualified repair shop do diagnostic's on the vehicle would be your best bet . Could be any number of thing's ,engine mangement system sensor's , fuel system , ignition system , engine mechanical systems etc.... Could be as simple as just needing spark plug's & wire's , fuel filter . But , some testing should be done by a qualified technician with a professional scanner .You don't want to get into a guessing game , one person tell's you it's this or that , because without doing testing they are just guessing .

i'd say you have a ground problem if you are burning up alternators... sorry if that don't help... i would have to see car to better appreciate problem.

maf sensor or fuel filter

Check the crankshaft position sensor.It is located forward of the harmonic balancer.Quite often the bracket that holds it gets broke or loosens up allowing sensor to rub on balancer.

First place I'd check is all my battery & ground connections for clean & tight, as well as any strap type you may see from engine to frame, engine to firewall etc.

check ur to see if ur catalytic converter is clogged

i had auto zone check the computer and was told i needed two sensor and i like know where they are located and if i can installed them my self thank you beepa1
