Sounds like it could be the CV joints, drive the car in reverse for a little and put steering on full lock, the noise will be a crunching sound coming from the front, if so then ist definitely the CV joint(constant velocity) joint, hope this helps
Hi there, this sounds like a cv-joint noise what if you drive in a straight line and swerve from left to right gently of course and on a quiet road, if makes a noise then more than likely cv-joint is the noise a clicking sound? your local mechanic should be able to diagnose it for you maybe they might go for a test drive with and listen so you could explain the noise and they could here it..
this does sound like theres a loose line tapping the engine/frame,during warm up the engine idles faster which could make it vibrate faster causing the the clanking or tapping noise,if this has started after trans fluid change,then check the lines running from the trani to radiator sometimes the service person might bang into something causing plastic clips that hold the lines to break,try getting under it and have someone start the truck and listen to see where it's coming from also hold the lines & see if the noise stops,the service guy could have unbolted something & never put the bolt back causing the clank ex.line may have a clip holding it thats bolted to the trani pan ?good luck
Try getting on an open road, get up to about 45 MPH or where ever the noise is loudest. Put the car in neutral and turn the engine off. You can roll in a straight line for a long time. Make sure nodody is around you. If the sound stops when the engine is off, then the noise is coming from the motor. If the sound is still there, its got to be coming from the tires. Id guess a wheel bearing.
Hyundai Sonata is a front wheel drive. When moving in a straight line,the noise will be from motor mounts,transmission mounts and stabilizer support from the top / front of the engine. Inspect for rubber bushing ware and loss mounting. Lift up the vehicle with jack stand or a shop lift to give a better view of the worn parts. ====== Check the CV plastic boot axles. A worn CV will make noise on tight turns. ======
The most common sources of noise would be sway bar end links and/or bushings, drive shaft CV joints [which often make a ratcheting noise], ball joints, or tie rod ends. Rarer would be wheel bearings/hubs but they often will make noise in straight line driving also. Either way I would be sure to have it checked out as soon as possible as it could be a big safety issue should something fail while you are driving it. I actually own one of these and have replaced both sway bar links and bushings on mine due to the klunking noise they would make at slower/in town speeds on bumps and turns.
If the noise happens when car is in park and you rev it to about 1500rpm's then its thebearing in the oil pump of the torque converter.It should make noise all the time even in park ideling. You may need a rebuild transmission. Have the vehicle checked out at a transmission repair shop
does it only make the sound when the car is moving ? but not stopped running still ? if only when you are moving under power then possibly a CV Joint or axle bearing, if it makes the noise when you a are at a stand still engine running then you amy have a issue inside the motor or transmission... if you need more advice feel free to comment...
