You're going to lose some coolant, so have a bucket or other container ready. Follow the upper radiator hose to the point where it's connected to the engine. The hose is clamped to a metal housing which is bolted to the engine. Remove the bolts (not the hose) and lift the housing to expose the thermostat (may require a little prying with a screwdriver or similar tool). Note how the old thermostat is fitted (which end is up), lift it out of the engine, and then remove all traces of gasket from the housing and the engine. Install the new thermostat and gasket, replace the bolts, add coolant as necessary, and you're done.
The first answer is correct for the 4cyl, but not for the 1MZ-FE V6 engine. The thermostat for the V6 is in a difficult to reach place on the driver's side of the engine, sort of in the valley between cylinder banks. To get to it you need to:
1. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP, VOLUME AIR FLOW
METER AND AIR CLEANER HOSE
(a) Disconnect the volume air flow meter connector and
wire clamp.
(b) Disconnect the accelerator cable clamp.
(c) Disconnect the PCV hose.
(d) Loosen the air cleaner hose clamp bolt.
(e) Disconnect the 4 air cleaner cap clips.
(f) Remove the air cleaner cap and volume air flow meter
together with the air cleaner hose.DISCONNECT HEATER HOSE
2. DISCONNECT PRESSURE HOSE OF HYDRAULIC
MOTOR
Remove the bolt and disconnect the pressure hose
from the water inlet.
3. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE
Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the engine wire
from the water inlet and cylinder head.
4. DISCONNECT WATER INLET PIPE
(a) Remove the bolt holding the water inlet pipe to the
cylinder head.
(b) Disconnect the water inlet pipe and remove the 0–
ring.
5. DISCONNECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE
(ECT) SENSOR CONNECTOR
1MZ–FE ENGINE – COOLING SYSTEM
EG2–329
(c) Check the valve lift.
Volvo lift:
10.0 mm (0.394 In.) or more at 95° C (203 F)
If the valve lift is not as specified, replace the thermo–
stat.
(d) Check that the valve spring is tight when the thermo–
stat is fully closed.
If not closed, replace the thermostat.
(a) Immerse the thermostat in water and gradually heat
the water.
(b) Check the valve opening temperature.
Valve opening temperature:
80 – 84°C (176 – 183°F)
If the valve opening temperature is not as specified,
replace the thermostat.
THERMOSTAT INSPECTION
INSPECT THERMOSTAT
HINT: The thermostat is numbered with the valve
opening temperature.
6. REMOVE WATER INLET
Remove the 3 nuts and water inlet from the water
inlet housing.
7. REMOVE THERMOSTAT AND GASKET

Here are step-by-step instructions for the removal and re-installation of your ignition cylinder on your Toyota. Hope this sheds some light on the subject and solves your problem. Have a great day!
CAUTIONSome
models covered by this guidemay be equipped with a Supplemental
Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near
any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag
module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as
described in .
On some vehicles, it may be necessary to remove the steering wheel and combination switch first.
To install:
SOURCE: 1993 Toyota Camry V6 Timing Settings
Get a T belt from toyota. It has 3 white lines on
it and and arrow mark. 2 lines are solid and one is broken. Put the
arrow facing away from the engine. The cam gears have a dot punched
into them near a certain tooth. This is where the solid white lines
will line up with. The crank gear will have a dot also. It will line up
at 90 degrees from the top, towards the front of the car. This is where
the broken line will match up with. With the belt installed with all
lines on their proper dots and arrow away from the engine, you valve
timming is correct.
Of course you need to remove and compress the tensioner also. I assume you know this already since you didn't ask.

1993 Camrys take regular Dexron ATF. It should be changed every 30,000 miles. If you have never changed it, and it is over 100,000 miles, I would strongly suggest a professional "transmission-flush", with a designed specifically for flushing transmissions. To just drain the fluid at this point will leave roughly 3 quarts of dirty ATF in the system; a complete flush will eliminate ny dirty ATF traces.

open the trunk and look up along the top of the bumper and you should see two screws / nuts that secure the light assembly.

This is better done when your engine is cold.
Park the car on a level fround.
Open the hood and remove the radiator cap.
Put a sizable container under the radiator and open its drain-plug.
(the drain-plug is by the radiator lower back wall).
Thermostat is in the inlet pipe held by three 10mm bolts that's attached to the engine block. (please note how it sitted)
Installation is reverse of removal. (replace o-ring around thermostat with a new one)
