I can't find where to put the oil in my Chevy C10 pickup truck. I see the oil dip stick, the brake fluid resevoir, the transmission dip stick, the oil filter, pretty much everything else I expect in an engine... any help will be greatly appreciated...
If there's no oil cap directly on one of the valve covers (it may have a breather hose attached which connects to the breather element in the breather pan), then some models require adding oil through the dipstick. If this is the case, there should be a cap type dipstick instead of the standard "hook". There are 6 different motors (8 including variations) for your truck so no manual has the exact location of the oil cap. Best of luck and hope I answered your question.

There is a cap on the top of the valve cover you need to remove to add oil.

The chrome valve covers you have sound like they are for and older small block 327 or 283 with the oil fill in the intake manifold. if you don't have that oil fill ( its right in the front middle) then you need to junk the chrome valve covers and get a set of stock valve covers that have the oil fill cap.
So add directly to the valve cover? There is no oil cap.

check the fluid level in the transmission, also change the transmission fluid and filter

The dipstick is on the very front, near the front pan. There is a bolt, and after that the dipstick can be pulled up.

I don't see any removable cap on either valve cover. They are chrome, one has the rubber hose to the air filter, the other has the rubber hose to the carb....
Well, it seems to have a regular dipstick, just a little small tube. Can't imagine how small the funnel would be to put oil down that...
maybe this will help: the truck is a 350 with a v8, runs on 2, other 6 kick in under acceleration. If there is any other info I can provide that would help let me know.
wireguy212 had it right, but the truck has new valve covers with no fill hole. Took a while to figure that out, but once we did it was great. We just removed the PVC tube and put the oil in that way.
