In my Chevy Optra 2004 the "Check Engine Light" came on. I took it to the dealership and they ran a diagonstic scan. Charged me $70.00 and told me that the Camshaft Positioning Sensor has to be replaced. This would cost me an additional $400/-. Can I ignore this and drive the vehicle with the light on?

try this install the new key in the ignition switch. turn on the ignition switch to the on position for 10 minutes.when the system led lock light disappear.turn off the ignition switch for 5 seconds.then start the engine.still dont start.try this procedure few more times.if car still dont crank and you see the pad lock symbols.the dealership will have to reprogram the new key and body control module.

yes report it asap, check engine light is not a valve adjustment issue, it's a bad sensor issue

I would have them take a good look at the fuel preasure and also the coil pack, as the car may run good at times and then skip whenever,hope this helps, also have they scanned the computer for stored codes as if its skipping the check engine light must be on.

when the engine light come on engine computer detect problem in the engine.
I would like to advice you to scan the computer it can be sensors.
It can be EGR is blocked also air flow mas sensor.

Find a car-repair work shop which is using diagnostic equipment to solve problem.

Many things can cause this problem...unfortunately the only proven way to remidy this situation is to have your car scanned by a reputable mechanic with a diagonstic machine $40-$80. This will tell what exactly is causing the check engine light to come on, in the long run its much cheaper replacing whats wrong than trying to replace things that arnt wrong.
