1999 cougar. won't start...cranks...battery ok. before they tell me I need a fuel pump I want to be sure the anti theft system has not shut down the fuel to the engine. how can I do that?
My 99 2.5l mercury cougar wont fire sence i just put my new alternator on. any ideas?
There is a "MegaFuse" just below the coil pack, make sure the connection on either side of the fuse is tight. Found a missing nut , which caused charging problems and sporadic no spark problems

this gets strange.
some months back a slight accident resulted in several dents...somehow causing the anti-theft alarm to sound at all hours. fuse was removed to stop alarm. car has run fine. theft light came on and stayed on. so it's hard to tell about that. it flashes normally when key is turned but engine now won't fire. one mech. checked and said the fuel pump is not working. he's VW...not Ford.
my budget won't allow for a fuel pump replacement...so I want to make SURE it's not the anti-theft system shutting off the pump. is there anyway to disconnect the anti theft system in a V6 99 Cougar? I located what I think is the system control in the trunk...an 85120A SPI-3. if this is the anti theft device can I disconnect it? pls keep in mind I'm no mech.
ya the pump wont work if the alarm is on . so how do u turn the alarm off . when u lock and unlock with the key
