That's a tough one since there can be so many different causes, starting with something loose under the hood to a problem with the suspension (sway bar links, control arm bushing, ball joint, strut mount, motor mount, etc etc). This can be a serious safety issue, so if it were my vehicle, I would first get to a dealer or alignment shop right away to have the front end suspension, tires and wheels checked.

check tyres for bulges in side walls. check that a mud flap is not loose. check for something stuck in the tread. check that a splash panel under the front is not loose or broken

If the noise indeed does get louder when turning right, I would suspect the leftside hub.

I think it is the control arm they can make thumping and other strange noises coming from under there when you hit the brakes and let them off while your driving. What it does will range depending on how bad they are. The car may also pull to one side.

first, check your brake pads, the grinding starts when the pad is worn to the rivets that hold it, then the pad starts to crack and break away. once the pad is gone there will be play that allows whats left of the pad to move around.. causing the thump, there should also be some change under braking, like going from a thump to a grind

this could also be wheel bearings.. but my guess would be the pads, and if it got to that point.. i would bet that the rotor is shot as well

If it only did it once then it was a road problem most likely and not the car.

sound's to me like it might be a lower ball joint and a hub assembly on that side of the vehicle or a lower control arm bushing is bad..

Sounds like you might have a bad wheel bearing.
