check for spark at the plugs then check for fuel. if one of these are missing the car won`t start. common problem on some of these was the ignition module in the distributor and sometimes the pickup coil wires would break. another thing to check is the distributor cap and rotor for damage like a cracked cap or burnt through rotor. fuel pump were also common.
no. I'd suggest to disconnect a battery for 15 mins, reconnect, wait for 5 mins and try to restart. If it doesn't help (sometimes there's a program block to prevent stealing equipment) call a dealer
Try turning the ignition on ( do not crank ) wait about 20 minutes. This may reset the security. Sometimes you may have to do this a couple times but each time wait a little longer
Have you tried moving the shifter slightly, or tried starting your Jeep in neutral ? (Assuming it has an auto. trans.) You may need a very pricey ($250.00+) neutral safety switch. There is a relay in the "relay & fuse" box located in the engine compartment that controls the starting circuit. It can be substituted for an identical relay in the same box for troubleshooting purposes. There is also the possibility of a poor connection somewhere in the starting circuit. Seems like these Jeeps do have more than their share of electrical problems !
Your ECT (engine coolant temp.) sensor sounds like it's bad. Check your coolant level and make sure it's full. The ECT sometimes triggers and engine light most don't. This is a very common problem with Chevy trucks.
