95' cavalier hesitates to start and switch to 2nd gear

I own a 95' chevy cavalier. It hesitates to start but turns over when i give it gas. Once started it hesitates to switch to second gear(automatic), The engine rises high before switching to second gear, but after that it's smooth sailing. Does this mean it's time for a timing belt replacement or worse transmission?

My friend it sounds very familiar to a TPS (throtle position sensor). Locate it by the throttle lever on the intake box.Place an ohmmeter on little brute while unplugged set the meter to 100 ohms and manually activate the throttle lever.Should read at 0 closed and 8 to 14 open . If not install a T P S unit.Cheap and readily available at most auto parts stores

I have a 96 Cavalier Transmission problem. It goes into reverse and drive just fine. When I accelerate up to around 20 - 22 mph (normal 2nd gear shift range) it doesn't at first then at 25 mph or so it...

its not reading the speedo signal properly, does you speedo wave about sometimes ?

95 chevy lumina hesitates to start

have the dealer replace the ignition switch so they can switch the chip in the tumbler and program the key. once this is done, youll notice a huge difference.

tsb remove dist cap ,clean out breather holes i replaced cap and rotor at the same time. chevy has the problem with the 4.3l astro,s and blazer i have both.fixed the problem when buying the cap and rotor the directions inside will also tell you how to fix
