The process takes about thirty minutes. in three ten minute key cycles. here is how you do it . make sure that the battery is fully charged. step on parking brake pedal and leave it down this will keep the head lights off. turn the key and try to start it then leave it in the on position. you have to leave the key in the on position for ten minutes. you will see the security light on. after the ten minutes the light will go off then turn the key to the start position. turn the key all the way back to the off position and count to three. then try to start it and leave the key in the on position for another ten minutes till the security light goes out. you have to do this same process three times to reset the security system. sometimes you get lucky and it will start after the first ten minute cycle.
This is not only a hassle, but perhaps a danger for some that need to get out of a questionable area. There ought to be an override. This is 2019 and there OUGHT to be a class action against this particular malfunction. Because THAT'S what it is!!! It's a system malfunction, ought to be recalled and is putting people at risk when they need to leave. 30 minutes is unacceptable. We have 70,000 miles on our 2001 and experience this on a REGULAR basis. Why is there no easy override????
