I have a 96 Lincoln town car Signature Series. I used the hazards for the 1st time and they did not come on. My turn signals and main brake lights quit working. My headlights, taillights and 3rd brake light still work. When you activate left signal, the left front illuminates and stays on but the rear does nothing and same for the right side. please help
BTW, All of my bulbs are good. I have ordered a turn signal switch hoping it may work but have not gotten part yet. Though I dont understand what the switch has to do with my brake lights a few people have told me its still possible. Any comments before I get the part?BTW, All of my bulbs are good. Ok. First of all, chk all the bulbs. Well at least the four parking lamps. The ones that are supposed to flash. One or two are burnd out. It happens. The flasher(s) work on resistance and that is provided by the bulbs.Brake likes and the turn signals are electrically associated.and you already said one side does not work, so let's start with bulb inspection Let me know
The brake lamps are the same lamps as the turn signals and the brake lamp has to be canceled each time the turn signal flashes when both are in use. Federal motor vehicle safety standard. :-) The brake lamps are the same lamps as the turn signals and the brake lamp has to be canceled each time the turn signal flashes when both are in use. The lights could of had burned out and need to be replaced. Or there could be a problem with the cars electrical wiring system and connection that allows the lights for the turning signals and the hazard lights to work. A mechanic would need to take a look and see what the issue is with the lights not working.
check the plug harness for blower motor, under hood on passenger side. I've had several town cars have that as the culprit when the air works intermittedly!
Sadly, there is no way to turn the light off. I had the air suspension on my Lincoln replaced with the spring kit, and the light is still on. I had a friend take the instrument panel apart and place a small piece of electrical tape over the "check suspension" light. Also, be certain to turn the air suspension pump switch off. It is located in the trunk on the right side.
The
Flasher is located:
Front seating area, driver side, under dash, driver
side of steering column, mounted on fuse side of
fuse panel
Application: Turn signal and Hazard Lights
Have a nice day (remember comment and rated this help).
