1994 Toyota Pickup Hesitation

My own 1994 toyota pickup did this exact thing intermittently for 2 years but the lights would always go off. When it finally stayed on I took it to my mechanic and the alternator was bad and I had it replaced. It was strange to have thake and battery light on but mine did the exact same thing.

There is a cable that runs from the back of the transmission to back of dash.Undo cable at trans end.Spin the inner wire with cordless drill,speedo should move,if not replace speedo cable.Some cables u can pull inside wire from trans end,so don't have to mess with dash

mcdevito75 here, with almost 100% certainty it does, the chances that a 94 Toyota pickup does not have a computer are nill, non existant. Look at your engine If you don"t see the old type carburetor sitting on top of th engine then you have fuel injection and that is computer controlled, also look along the firewall for a mass of wires, also look for the old type distributer cap if you don"t see it then you have computer controlled ignition. I can say with almost 100% you do have a computer in your toyota pick up.

Cold start injector could be bad, or you could have a small vacuum leak, like a cracked hose. A vacuum leak is most noticeable at idle, when engine cold.

go to the rear of the vehicle and look just above the rear end, there is a load sensing porpotioning valve up there, there is a rod that connects the rod to the top of the rear end, if you have raised or lowered the vehicle than that rod needs to be adjusted,

the valve simply diverts fluid to and from the rear brakes depending on rear vehicle ride height, this is for proper stopping ability when the vehicle is loaded down or when it nose dives from a hard stop.

i had the same problem on my 94 toy pickup all i did was go to the dealer and got some copper contacts that go on the starter it cost me about 25 bucks and i pulled it and replaced it myself easy fix.

Do you know how check if every cilinder is working? with the engine in idle, go to the distribuitor cap and carefully unplug one at the time, every cilinder spark plug wire,in the cilinder you dont see a diference in rpm variation, that cilinder is not working, replace spark plug, if you see spark jumping fron the distribuitor cap torch the spark plug wire, another cause to a cilinder fail could be a loss of compression in one or more cilinder
