My 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee cuts off while I'm driving.

4.7L jeep
the p07 code is tranny error.
cutting off all power means , power to rear wheels or DC battery power to some things ,electrical things die?)
on all cars, DC power must be good first or the computers fail or go mad.
P0455 is gas cap loose, ignore it until all else is cured.
unless cap is missing sure.
Shift Solenoid "D" Malfunction. 0755

fix DC power distribution problems first.
bad grounds, bad connectors, alternator weak or dead
fuses blown or loose
loose wire lugs, or connectors.
rusty ground lugs wires.

title ,DIES Driving.
so dies means engine stalls. not tranny slip right.?
if is stalling can you save the stall before it completes the stall
by fast right foot actions
when it stalls tell the helper all other electrical things that die at the event. Radio dead, head lamps and parking lamps dead.
heater or AC cool blower dead?

Seems to me a pure electrical failure so far.

have you checked the asd relay ?
are you saying the knocking noise is happening while you are cranking the engine ?

Maybe when the belt broke it knocked some electrics

Check your fuses by the brake pedal and in by the engine and battery. Black rectangular box. If not see if you have power at the switch

Sounds like a bad battery to me. Turns over really slowly? Also, be sure to check your oil, this is extremely important!

The circuits you mention should be grounded to the battery through the main harness. The battery should be grounded to the engine at or close to the alternator, then the engine should be grounded to the frame then the body. Look for braided metal wiring.

Check the belt tension,and if it is fine,replace the rack and pinion.

not sure when a tune may have been done but that is a suggestion and cleaning the throttle body throat with some cleaner.

sounds like the fuel pump relay...
