code p0320 refers to cam shaft position (CKP) sensor/engine speed (RPM) sensor--circuit malfunction=== causes --wiring--CKP/RPM sensor ---ECM
because the engine runs ok until it is on cruise control I would be investigating the RPM sensor for a fault
The cruise control takes its control from the RPM sensor and if that circuit is interminable the the cruise control doesn't know what rpms to maintain.
That is a possible cause alright. I would get a can of fast freeze spray from a motor parts factor. If its ok when cold but shuts off when hot its very likely.when the engine shuts off, spray the crank sensor and immediately start engine. If it starts and stays running its your crank sensor. Does it have a duel mass flywheel?? Some times if the crank sensor picks up off the flywheel and the duel mass is worn , it then runs out of sync with the cam shaft pick up sensor, which will cut the vehicle off. Just a shot in the dark? If you can drive vehicle when cold , check for vibrations whilst engine is cruising at steady speed. You will not feel vibrations under load. Keep us informed on how you get on.
Does it have cruise control? If it does try unplugging the cruise control module. If not check the throttle return spring/ or throttle position sensor.
Hope this helps please don't forget to vote/rate my advice or place a testimonial. Wicked Angel
Need more data...if you are saying the cruise control and radio don't work, then its probably 2 separate issues. Cruise control shares fuses with the instrument panel, if your gauges work then its not the fuse...if its a 5 speed could be a switch not working that operates when the clutch is pushed in (if you push the clutch, the cruise will disengage to keep engine from revving). Radio shares fuses with headlite lift motors...if your headlights pop up then its not the fuse, maybe just a bad radio...blueamber...I've owned 6 of the capris
the torque convertor is locking up,There is a plastic wire harness on top the transmission,Unplug it from the transmission and your troubles will cease, If you want it repaired and transmission shop can do it,or you can drive it for ever unplugged
that sounds like wiring or connection issue. I would firstly try getting a wiring schematic of the vehicles loom then find all the earth points and start by cleaning those and making sure there is clean and secure earth connections
Turn key, on, off, on, off, on & leave it on (not start) & count check engine flashes. 2 digit codes, for example: flash, flash, flash, pause, flash, flash., is code 32
