The red light flashing is telling you that the security circuit has not recognised your key chip so it will not start. Either there is a fault on the reader or you have dropped your key and damaged/lost te chip.
Ring an auto locksmith. They will quickly cut you a set of keys and code them to your car.
Always keep a spare key handy.

If it is a stock alarm the you can put the key into the ignition and turn the vehicle over and the alarm will shut off. Often time just sticking the key into the drivers door is sufficient but the ignition will surely kill the alarm. It has to be the transponder key though not just a quick cut key.

are you using the original key for the car because it sounds like a theft system problem I had a 2000 jeep that did the same thing it would start for a bit and then quit on me found out that the key has a chip in it so the key i got cut works for the lockes but cant use to run the car
