Location of crankshaft sensor on a 98 chevy s10 2.2 liter

In general, most trucks or cars would have it closest to the crankshaft. Some are located near or behind the main pulley in front of the engine. Some would be located near the flywheel side of the engine.

This location is for 3.9 liter engine.

The crankshaft position sensor mounts to the engine block behind the alternator near the oil filter.

Should be behind the crank pulley under the water pump.

try google and ask the question "where is the location of the crankshaft position sensor for 1997 chysler cirrus 2.5 liter engine" or you can go to a parts store and ask for there help, or buy a repair manual it will show you the location.

I spent hours in engine and on the internet. I viewed 15 different sites with 15 different answers. Finally found it...The crankshaft position sensor on a 2009 Chevy Traverse (3.6 liter) is as follows: You need to jack up vehicle (or useramps) and climb under. You CANNOT access it from top (as many sites state). On the firewall (vehicle) side of motor, in the center, directly below the exhaust outlet, you will see a silver (aluminum) heat cover/plate. It is held on by 2 bolts. (one 15mm and one 10mm). The sensor is located benind this cover. Once you get this cover off, you will see two seperate sets of wires, wrapped in silver heat deflection tape. The set of wires that extends further to the left go to th CPS (sensor). I used a small extendable automotive mirror to see it. It is in a tight spot, but once you find it, it is easier to access than it looks!!! Took me about 30 minutes total to switch it out. 3.0 3.3 and 3.8 liter engines look down on the back side of the engine on the firewall side. It will be under the crossover exhaust pipe and bolted to the transmission. It will have three wires going to it.

if a 2.2 four-cylinder, remove the starter motor. disconnect the 7x crankshaft position wiring and harness connector. remove crankshaft retaining bolt and withdraw sensor from engine block. replace the "O" ring and lightly lubricate it with new engine oil. installation is reverse of removal. have a good one !!
