You need to have the anti-theft code put in to make the radio work, this happens when the battery power is lost. Call the dealer or go to www.radio-codes.com
When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio. The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your BMW service centre and get them to enter this code for you.
Does it happen to say "CODE" ? Was battery recently disconnected or go dead? Ot's your theft deterrent radio and needs code to be unlocked. Check owners manual for small credit card size card, that has you code and enter it into your radio. If you don't have code, you're going to have to either have BMW or yourself pull radio and provide BMW the serial # off of radio.
if the radio is security coded which is activated it will not work after the battery has been disconnected,it is much safer to connect another battery before disconnecting the original battery.....hope this helps.....cheers
TURN OFF RADIO FIRST BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE BUT.THATS NO GUARANTEE YOU WILL LOSE RADIO CODE I WOULD TRY TO USE A BACK UP MEMORY SAVER YOU PLUG IN THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER BUT NO GOOD IF CAR GOING TO BE DOWN LONG.TIME BECAUSE THE MEMORY SAVER BATTERY WILL GET WEAK YOURE IN TROUBLE.BMW WARNS IF YOU DISCONNECT BATTERY CABLES YOU WOULD LOSE HEATING COOLING CLIMATE CONTROL.YOU ALSO WILL LOSE FUNCTION TO WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WASHER , CENTRAL LOCKING AND THEFT SYSTEM CONTROL.
yes the light is because of the gas cap being gone (sets code in evaporative emissions system), replace the gas cap, disconnect the battery for five minutes and that will turn of/reset the light, make sure u have the radio code before u do this, if u don't u will have no radio after the battery is disconnected..
There is a code consisting of four (4) characters that you may have to check in the radio manual of your car or, bring your car to the nearest BMW dealer and they shall help you, as far as I know you may just bring the immobilized car key then they can find the radio code for you in their database (provided the radio has never been changed)...
If you're talking about the Anti-Theft Security code for your radio, I'm fairly sure that only a BMW Dealership would be able to retrieve and reset the radio.
You could also try disconnecting the battery terminals for 10-20 minutes, and see if it resets.
