The emergency flasher and the turn signal flasher are two separate items. You could have a defective T/S flasher.

    What year?

I just looked up the diagram for your 1997 Ranger and I must apologize for my initial answer. Yours is a 5 pin style flasher which entails the workings of both turn and emerg flasher. This still doesn't rule out the possibility that the flasher is defective. Change it out and let me know if you have any more difficulty.

1987. Why is there no power at the turn signal cam?

Do you have brake and parkng lights? The turnsignal switch on the column is just designed to relay a path to the flasher and then it is designed to interupt the brake and some of the parking lights lights, which cause the flashing on and off. Double check fuses double check bulb socks and bulbs for good contacts. Does the 4 ways work? If the lights all flash then locate the turn signal flasher and switch with emergency flasher if possible to rule out relay. If those are all good and the emergency flasher lights work and bulbs, then you would have a problem with the turn signal switch. Hope this all helps

Signal And Brake lights

The flasher unit is located under the dash, near the steering column. This could also be caused by a faulty ground wire. Check the wiring for broken, bare, or loose wires or connections.

make sure that all of your turn signal bulbs are not blown they run through each other so you know when one gets blown.

New flasher relay good fuse no four way flasher no turn signals

you need to check the bulbs holders and wiring even a blown bulb will not blow the fuse and an damaged wire or bulb holder will as it will make earth and live go together. there are also fuses for left side and right side turning lights cannot remember rating think they are 10amp.

Both of the rear turn signals stopped working at the same time, but everything else seems to work. Do you know what can cause this to happen? I changed one of the bulbs and it didn't work.

There is a turn signal flasher under dash...most have a flasher for the emergency signals and one for the turn signals...some have one flasher....but check fuses first...normally it is fuse burnt...if you can locate the flasher normally they will get abnormally warm when bad......it should look like a round or square silver shiney or black cube.........if these are good with ign.on hold turn signal lever down firmly ...if it works replace turn signal unit.....if none of this works you have to troubleshoot wiring...
...normally yellow wire is left turn and green wire is right turn...black or white is ground red is stop light....but normally it is a blown fuse or flasher.

I drive a 2000 mitsu. mirage. my turn signals just stopped working. i checked the bulbs the fuses they're good. the emergency flashers work im wondering if maybe its the turning module but i dont know...

The emergency flasher switch is also the turn signal flasher It pops out of the dash and can be replaced easy. do chaeck the fuses before going to this much troble. check all the fuses as some work backup circuits that you wouldn;t think would be important. Before replacing the flasher switch ( you may only be able to buy it from the dealer) work the switch several times and the flashers will come on cheak to see if allthe lights work thenturn the flashers off and see ( with the key on if the turn signals now work. Now if during the test with the four way flashers you see a bulb or more out you know that the turn signals wouldn't work, but the four ways will. they work on different fuses so chak the turnsignal fuse too. after cycling the switch try the turn signals again as the switch is likly to stick and sometimes cycling it will get the turn signals working again. Fooling around with the switch you may find a position that the turn signals work. if you can't get it to stay working then you'll have to change the flasher emergency switch.

Turn signals and 4-way flashers do not work - 1997 Buick Century

Time to change the flasher unit, it's usually close to the drivers side of vehicle and behind a fuse box access panel and will have something like "12v 23/98W " on it. It's a largish cube shaped componant and may be water damaged !

Blinkers not working

Did you check the bulbs? If one bulb is burned out, the blinkers won't word on that side. You could have one bulb burned out on each side. Start the car, put left signal on. Check front and back lights. Is one light on but not blinking? If that's the case, the light that's not on at all is burned out and has broken the circuit so the good light stays on and won't blink. Check the other side. You also have a 'flasher' , actually 2. One for emergency flashers, one for the turn signals. It could be that the turn signal flasher is shot. You just have to unplug it to remove. It's probably located near the fuses. good luck countrycurt0
