the damper or flapper ibside the heater box is not moving. If they are vaccum actuated could be lack of vaccum or bad diafram in the actuator...replace
have the blower motor resistor checked it may be bad causing air not to blow, you will get a little heat at defrost because heat rises and thats the high point, the blower motor is not working check that resistor.
hello, this sounds like a bad blower motor resistor!! its cheap and easy to change..if you need more info on locations let me know,, good luck.....marty
The blower motor works on high setting ONLY when the blower resistor is
bad. The blower motor resistor is held in place with 2 screws and
attached into the heater housing under the right side of the dashboard.
You can identify the resistor by the big wires that are connected to
the connector. If this heating/cooling system is the auto temp type,
the part is a bit high on the price.
Alot of people have the same problem with the fan switch and blown bulbs. There really is no fix for this. Jeep really screwed up when designing the heater control assembly. The cheapest solution is to buy another unit off Ebay. Can always go to the dealer but be ready to PAY for there mistakes.
Generally this condition is the result of coolant loss, or failed thermostat. If coolant goes below cylinder head level, or thermostat remains closed, heat will stop working. Do not drive with this condition as excessive heat buildup in cylinder head can and will do serious damage to heads and or head gasket. Find out where leak is and correct it. Change thermostat as it may also be damaged. Check for excessive steam from tailpipe or miss in engine, as these symptoms indicate a cylinder head problem.
