The hoses off the heater core and flush it really well with a garden hose. a little bit of debris could be clogging the core. also you can give the engine a few good high revs and bust it loose. i had the same problem.

I have a 2008 mercury mariner and the heater works great going down the road but when I heat up in morning it blows cold air has antifreeze in it what is the problem ?? Thank you, sherry

Not sure how much time you are talking about. The heat you get is from the water in the engine. The heater will not blow hot air till the engine coolant water heats up. The engine water flows through the heater coil under the dash air will blow across the heater coil and give you hot air coming out the vents. Engine has to heat up before you get hot air from you heater.

Problem with heating up and staying heated.

Thermostat is sticking or heater core is blocked.do not keep running it or it is going to ruin the engine. It is running hot regardless if is blowing cool or hot air. Do not keep using the car.

My rear heating fan cannot supply hot air through roof duct but AC works

Heat is only supplied through floor ducts, as hot air tends to rise up to ceiling to create circulation of hot air inside the car, same way cold air (AC) is only supplied through roof ducts as cold air tends to settle down.
