03 Ford EB V8 Explorer ABS light intermittent

03 Ford EB V8 Explorer -- Replaced defective front hub/bearing assemblies at 43K miles. ABS light was intermittently on for a few miles, and is now steadily on even after reinstalling old Timken ABS sensors. Was advised to check the rear pumpkin sensor but this seems unrelated since my problem occurred immediately after front hub replacement. Advice? Help!!

We replaced the bearing hub assemblies on my 05 Ford Explorer (Eddie Bauer, 4WD) Within about 18 miles, the right rear bearing is all but shredded - left side is fine. What is causing this?

Did you clean the mounting surfaces to make sure the hub is running absolutely straight? If yes you probably have a defective bearing return it.

I replaced both front hubs due to possible bearings being bad. My 2005 explorer has 120,000 miles and runs strong. After the hubs were replaced, the "ABS", "4x4", and...

The ABS has been deactivated but the normal barkes are still active. This is why your brakes run fine now. You might have damaged the sensors or the tone ring. The tone ring is made up of teeth that the sensor reads. If one of them are damaged, the computer will miss diagnose your problem and the ABS light will turn on. Good luck!

How do I change front hub and bearing assembly on 2004 Explorer

Front hub bearing, remove tire, remove caliper and caliper holding bracket, you do not have to remove brake caliper from brake hose, just set it aside, if 4X4 remove front axle nut that goes through center of rotor, also remove brake rotor, disconnect elec, A.B.S connector, remove three bolts on back side of hub bearing, remove hub bearing, some times you will need to knock hub bearing out with a hammer.Reverse to install new hub bearing.

Abs light on after replacing hub bearing

Sounds like the ABS sensor has failed, or is unplugged. If someone did the work for you, take it back. Otherwise check the sensor on the right front. Replace as necessary. Also ask the Q at MyFordFreestyle.com
