The driver's window on my 2002 Buick Century won't roll up and it's stuck down inside the door. How can I pull it up? This happened to one of the back windows a few weeks prior but it didn't fall all the way down. I had to tape the window in place. However, I can't grasp the driver's window. Should I use pliers? It'll be a couple of weeks before I can afford to get the windows fixed and it's cold!

Remove the inner door pannel the screws securing it will be in the handel and hiden clips around the edge prise them away with a flat bladed screwdriver, once removed you will see the window glass that has come off its runners, undo the winding mech from its fixings and reposition the glass in its runners, you can lock the glass in the up position with a piece of thin wood or simillar if you cannot fix why it came off its runners,

Driver Power Window Won't Go Up

The window regulator has gear teeth on it that connects to a metal track attached to the window glass. The teeth are most likely stripped and the grinding noise is the motor trying to mate to the broken teeth. You need to replace the window regulator and I wouldn't hesitate to replace the motor at the same time. It's a costly fix but worth it to only have to be inside the door once and the motor will have to be removed at the same time the regulator is replaced. If you can reach the glass and pull up on it at the same time you can probably get it to roll up as a temporary fix.
