  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 60 seconds before beginning the remainder of the procedure, in order to disarm the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
  2. Using a plastic trim tool, remove the radio panel. Pry the lower part of the radio panel away first, then separate and remove the panel.

Remove the center trim panel for access to the radio retainers

WARNING When removing and installing the floor console, do NOT allow it to bump against the SRS-ECU!

  1. For 1995-98 vehicles, remove the floor console assembly, as outlined in Section 10 of this manual.

Removal and Installation
  1. Disconnect the battery cables. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 .
  1. Remove the audio unit.
    1. Insert the special tool into the radio face plate and release the radio retaining clips.
    1. Pull outward on the special tool and remove the audio unit from the instrument panel.
  1. Disconnect the connectors.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  2. On 1991-92 models, remove the finish panel from around the radio assembly.

To remove the radio, insert the removal tool prongs into the release clip access holes (arrows)

Push in approximately 1 inch (25.4mm) to release the retainer clips, then pull straight out to remove

3. Insert the radio removal tool T87P-19061-A or equivalent, into the radio face.

4.Press in 1 inch (25.4mm) to release the retaining clips, then using the tool as handles, pull the radio out of the instrument panel.

  1. Disconnect the antenna and wiring connectors from the radio.
To install:
  1. Connect the wiring and slide the radio into the instrument panel. Ensure that the rear mounting bracket is engaged on the mounting track in the panel.
  2. If removed, install the finish panel
  3. Connect the battery cable.
  4. Check the operation of the radio.

Removal
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301).
  1. Remove the instrument panel finish panel (044D70). Refer to Section 01-12 for the removal procedure.
  1. Insert the Radio Removing Tool T87P-19061-A into the face plate holes until the tension of the tool locking into place can be felt. (There are tension clips that this tool pushes out of the way so the radio can pull out. Maybe you can insert 4 pins that will do the same thing.)
  1. Flex outward on both sides of the radio chassis (18806) simultaneously and pull the radio chassis from the instrument panel (04320) using the tool as handles.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the radio antenna lead in cable (18812) from the radio chassis.

Car radio install

There should be an actual wire harness for radio back in there somewhere, maybe tied up or bundled up, just have to find it, then buy from stereo or automotive supply place, an adapter that will go from factory plug to your other stereo, and it will make installation much, much easier.
