There's a few that you can use - but in general

Use Full Synthetic only for the TDIs...

There's various schools of thought after that in terms of 5x 30, 5w 40, even 0w 30 or 0w40

I've been using Castrol Synthetic 5w 30. The original specs for my 2000 Jetta TDI may have been for 5w40 oil formulated for diesels - but with the Synthetics now I think the 5w30 is felt to be the best in terms of what works best in the Turbo

You can probably go every 5,000 to 7,500 miles between changes - a good thing since the synthetic oils are more expensive

by the way, some also suggest changing the fuel filter at every oil change. I'm thinking that's a bit much but others may disagree... maybe ever 15,000 miles for me

Weird! I have put in too much oil in to my 2001 Jetta TDI. I take off the plug and drain it, but it's still away above the full mark, and now, no oil comes out of the pan! Never seen anything like it....

are you sure your checking the motor oil level with the motor oil dipstick and not the trans dipstick,or your removing the wrong drain plug and not draining the motor oil but another oil like transmission.

What kind of oil do i use for a 2002 jetta tdi manual transmition

Recommendation for TDI motor is branded Fully Synthetic with rating at least CF-4 5W-40.

Always check your User manual or ring WV service centre to check the minimum requirements for any oil or fuel.

Hope it helps.

Hello-what size oil wrench would I need to change the oil filter on a 2001 VW Jetta TDI? Is there a particular brand or model needed?

not really. The TDI's have a drop in filter, and you will only be loosening the cover that the filter rests in. It should be hand tightened from the dealership, so a simple oil filter wrench will work. rubber gloves can sometimes disengage it also.

Does my 2001 Jetta TDI have to use a special type of transmission oil or fluid?

Automatic or manual? They use normal fluids, unlike Audi's (powersteering) where some needed the synthetic green stuff or else the seals would go. There are really good synthetic fluids available that are much better and last longer. Check out the VWvortex forum for lots of great VW info.

Turbo control/control limit below minmal level jetta 2000 tdi

This happens to almost every TDI. On top of the valve cover there's a puck-shaped device with a 90 degree plastic tube connected to the intake. This is your crankcase vent... and your culprit. I fixed mine using heater hose. For detailed instructions visit TDIclub.com- a must for every TDI owner
