No power to cab, no power to start, but clock has power
1997 chevy s-10, 2.2L, 2 wheel drive. i reciently replace the timing chain, #2 fuel injector, plug wires, throttle pos sensor, crank sensor, o2 sensor, and 1of the 2 coils. it ran fine. for a week or so.
i went to start it one morning and it acted like the battery was dead. a weakbuzzing sound comes from under the dash. power comes and goes to interior lights and the clock works. but no power to dash, radio, lights, and it won't even attempt to start. there's feedback that is coming through the speakers sometimes too. i tried replacing the ignition switch, not the lock tumbler, and the dash lit up and it clicked once when i tried to start ir and then back to the way it was so i put the old one back in. I did manage to get the radio to play on the Accessory side, however when I turned on the headlight switch the radio stopped playing, then I would have to mess around with the ignition switch, headlight switch to get the radio to play, I decided to disconnect the headlight and dash light switchs, the radio stopped playing and now for some reason the radio will not play at all. The key in the ignition switch warning chime sounds as tho the battery is low, the battery voltage reads 12.45 volts.
the connections are good and the starter connections are also. the ground wire to the block is good.the connections are good and the starter connections are also. the ground wire to the block is good.

Are all your battery cable connections tight? The ground cable, and starter? Are all your battery cable connections tight? The ground cable, and starter?

Check fuse block for shorts, melting discoloring,on back side of fuse panel around starter relay. loose connection causes fuse block to over heat will need to be replaced.hope this helps.

Does the engine have spark to the spark plugs? Is there 12 volts to the coil and is the coil being triggered on the ground side? Check to see if the coil is sending spark to the distributor. Several more things to check that will not let the truck start. Check these and get back with me and I will help you more if needed. Good luck.
Here is a list of some things that can cause it,
Emmissions system not functioning properly,
Faulty secondary ignition system
Fuel injection system in need of adjustment
Vaccum leak at fuel injectors, around intake manifold, or vaccum hoses
Clogged fuel filter
Weak fuel pump
To test for a vaccum leak, get a can of starting fluid, with the engine running, spray around the intake manifold, the vaccum hoses, connections and fittings, where ever you spray and the engine rev's up a little, you found a leak.
According to my book, the first code is the brake control rough road sensor, and P0302 is a cyllinder #2 misfire. Check the gap on your plug, and make sure the plug wire is on all the way. Give the boot an extra good push. Backfiring or misfiring under load is always caused by poor ignition. You may also have a faulty plug or wire.
it is possible was the engine rattling before it quite .if so the chain could have broke .Do a compression check the cylinders should be at least 120 psi.You should have smelled fuel before but you thought the injectors were bad so i assumed you didnt smell any gas.
Injector maybe but i'd check the glow plugs if they are not working in some cylinders it could act the same way, only allowing a couple cylinders to preheat the fuel mixture for easier ignition, if it runs fine after it warms up the injectors are probably ok
if you still have one it will be on the frame rail right about the transmission crossmember on drivers side. this is around the year chevy started using the in tank filter which you dont replace
