'97 Chrysler T&C, 40amp fuse blows when seat reversed
'97 Chrysler T&C, 40amp fuse blew when seat was reversed. With new fuse, all lighting dims on reversing the seat (driver's), but, no problems when advancing the seat forward. Has not had any recent work, so, am assuming it is age-related, or, could something have been easily knocked loose? I keep a pair of shoes under there. Thanks for the help.

You have a dead short to ground on that circuit ! Passenger seat ? Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? How to test for a short to ground ? Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on body & accessories , then under subsystem click on power seat . Click the search button then the blue link . Somewhere between the fuse box an the power seat connector that wire is touching ground ( metal on the vehicle body ) . Videos on youtube showing how to find short .
It looks like you have a short somewhere. You would need to inspect all the wiring related to that in order to pin point the problem. Also check if there is another system working from that same fuse. ie. Power Outlets. Sometimes if they go bad it will blow the fuses shutting down everything else. I hope this helps!
You have a 40amp fuse for the key switch, and the main component on the 80amp circuit is the alternator. I would disconnect the alternator, hook up the battery without the fuse, and use a test light across the 80amp fuse terminals to see if the short has been removed.
I strongly suggest your first priority will be to discover why your tail lights are seemingly consuming many times more current than they should. A 30 amp fuse has less resistance than a 10 amp though the difference is hardly measurable.
I suspect when that is sorted out the other faults could disappear without further effort.
It is time to find a circuit diagram and to trace the tail light wiring from the supply to the lamps in order to discover what went wrong.

check the wire because if the fuse keep blowing there's a wire somewhere on the car that has contact with the frame so everytime you put your car on reverse the 12V wire shortcut on the frame so the fuse blow check all your positive wire and your bulb as well

U HAVE A LARGE SHORT IN THE WINDOW HARNESS OR THE WINDOW MOTOR, START BU DISCONNECTING THE WINDOW MOTOR AND SEE IF THE SHORT GOES AWAY, IF IT DOES THEN REPLACE THE WINDOW MOTOR.
