Turn the key to the run postion pace your foot on the brake and you should be able to shift it to neutral without starting it.

You need to disconnect the shifter cable from the trans directly then.

I do believe you can turn the key on and the foot on the brake to shift the shifter. If it will not, then put another car next to it and just hook up the jumper cables, with no car running, and then you can change the shifter. If you can not get a car next to it,then carry a battery to the car and use the jumper cables.Depending on the year,if battery voltage drops down to almost nothing, the computer will loose it`s memory.I hope this helps,if so,please let us know, thank you.

Either the generator is not charging the battery properly or a new battery is needed. If the battery is older than 5 years then should be replaced as it Will charge but not have full power.

How do you shift into neutral when battery is dead? Pilot was in my garage and I needed to roll it out to jump start battery but could not shift into neutral.

Follow these steps:
1. Pull up the brake
2. There is a shift lock release switch available under your gear cover - remove it by using a screwdriver
3. Put the screwdriver in the shift-lock release switch and press on it
4. Now you can change the gear from park to neutral
5. You would need to buy a new cover

If the battery is dead,it is a dangerous practice
to jump start it,not recommended I should say

If you can charge it, or take it out and replace it, that
is your best bet.

Someone on your street will have a charger

I have a 99 Lexus 300 series with a dead battery. How can I get it into neutral to push it out of my garage?

Hi,
would it not be expedient to "jump" start the vehicle and move it? If that is not feasible slide a small trolley jack under the drive axle, jack the vehicle up and push the vehicle out side.

Good luck.

Suspected immobiliser problem

Immobilizer unit is connected in series with the neutral safety switch.

Next time your Luxes GS fail to start.....put you foot on the brake, shift to NEUTRAL (N) and turn the key.

A shorting/shorted neutral will draw power and kill the battery.

Give it a try.

Please post result on the comment window.

Battery Dead - How can I get the vehicle into neutral

i hate to say it, but you are gonna have to open the hood in the confined area and try to work with the area you have or call in whatever autoclub you use / the dealer and make it their problem.

actually you can buy a jump box that plugs into your cig. lighter and jump it that way. my jump box has the set up to do it that way. but check your owners manual to see if the car will accept that without damage.
