This is a very complicated and expensive system to maintain. I would strongly recommend doing a air suspension conversion on your Navigator and be done with the problem forever.
If the seals are worn how can the suspension hold air pressure? Sounds to me like the height sensor is bad and/or maybe some part of the system was damaged while up on the lift.
Hello, Something is not right here. The Catalytic converter is not part of the steering system. First, I advise you to check your Lugnuts to see if they are tight. Sometimes a mechanic needs to remove a wheel to access the exhaust system.
When your vehicle was moved onto the lift, some suspension parts could have been damaged. If you have Air suspension, it was suppose to be turned off before the vehicle was lifted. When the vehicle was driven on or off the lift, low hanging parts could have been smashed if supporting parts of the lift were not cleared out of the way. If you do not drive very far, the scratches under the vehicle should verify damage.
You did not indicate a Brand or Model of your vehicle. The rack and pinion (a main part of the steering) may have been removed to give access to the Catalytic converter.
I would contact the Repair shop and give them a chance to tow your vehicle safely into their shop for inspection. If the Catalytic converter was damaged by a wreck or Road hazard, you could have damaged the steering at the same time.
I have seen this before. They put car on lift which lets suspension drop. When they set it back down the Air ride leveling rods get stuck and think they need to stay full. Like what was already mentioned, check your levelers located next to your suspension air bags to see if they are stuck.
this car has rear air bags.(instead of coil springs perched on top of the rear end)the air suspension switch needs to be shut off whenever either or both rear wheels will be hanging free(ie. changing a rear tire or putting the car on a lift where the lift is not a "drive-on"ramp type lift.there is a height sensor near the rear end and what sometimes happens if someone "jacks up" the rear of the car without turning the air suspension switch OFF the air bags can be damaged and might need to be replaced.FIRST check all the fuses and make sure the switch is turned ON and start the car and let it run.with the hood open you should hear an air compressor running near the air filter box.if its not running sometimes ther will be a "schrader valve "similar to a tire valve on the comressor.try putting air in with an air hose like you would with a tire.if that does not work there should be a connector(probably in the trunk near the air bag switch) that you can get CODES out of with a scan tool .the code(s) will point you in the right direction as to what went bad(most likely the air bags) the air bags are like BIG RUBBER BALLOONS/BLADDERS that can get pinholes over time and leak or even blow out.hope this helps you.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Air Spring
Removal WARNING: Do not remove an air spring under any circumstances when there is pressure in the air spring. Do not remove any components supporting an air spring without either exhausting the air or providing support for the air spring to prevent vehicle damage or personal injury. WARNING: Disconnecting an air line that is connected to the air compressor can cause personal injury or damage to components as high pressure air is vented uncontrolled.
WARNING:
Do not attempt to install or inflate any rear air spring that has become unfolded to prevent vehicle damage or personal injury.
Failure to observe the following procedures may result in a sudden failure of the air spring or suspension system.
Any rear spring which is unfolded must be refolded prior to being installed in a vehicle.
The air spring refolding procedure should only be used for an air spring which has never supported the vehicle's weight while in the improperly folded position.
Improperly folded air springs found on vehicles during pre-delivery inspection or after use must be replaced.
Do not attempt to inflate any air spring which has been collapsed while uninflated from the rebound hanging position to the jounce stop.
When installing a new air spring, care must be taken not to apply a load to the suspension until springs have been inflated using the air spring fill procedure.
After inflating an air spring in the hanging position, it must be inspected for proper shape.
NOTE: The vehicle must be positioned on a suitable lifting device prior to deflating the air suspension system. Vent the air suspension system. Refer to Ride Height Adjustments .
WARNING: Before performing maintenance on any air suspension components, disconnect the power to the system by turning off the air suspension switch located on the LH side of the luggage compartment to prevent vehicle damage or personal injury. Turn the air suspension switch off.
Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02 .
Remove the rear air spring retainer (5A966).
Lift the bottom of the air spring off the rear axle (4001).
Remove the air spring.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Compress the quick connect locking ring and pull out the air line.
Remove the air spring.
Installation
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the air spring, do not allow suspension to compress before the spring is inflated. NOTE: When installing the air lines, make sure the white air line is fully inserted into the fitting for correct installation. Install the air spring.
Position the air spring assembly in the frame seat.
Install the spring retainer clip.
Seat the bottom of the air spring on the rear axle (4001).
NOTE: When installing the air lines, make sure the white air line is fully inserted into the fitting for correct installation. Connect the air spring solenoid valve.
Connect the electrical connector.
Connect the air line.
Make sure air spring is in the proper shape.
Refill the air springs; refer to Ride Height Adjustments .
