2000 hyundai sonata gls- would the burning rubber odor coming from under the hood after driving be caused by a bad battery, power stearing pump going bad, or could it have something to do with the front breaks? Help

Hyundai Sonata 2007 have the two variants which are Sonata GLS and Sonata SE. So check out the engine power of the Hyundai Sonata, which are as follows,

=> The Sonata GLS is powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 162-hp and 164 lb.-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm.

=> The Sonata SE and Limited are powered by a 3.3-liter V6 engine that pumps out 234-hp and 226 lb.-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm.

A 30 amp fusible link is listed in the junction box under the hood. Do none of the windows work ?

easy to check. open hood and count how many spark plug leads come from the engine block. 4 leads = 4cyl 6 leads = 6cyl

Could possibly be a weak fuel pump.

Check the fuel pump relay and or fuel pump fuse.

You would have to proceed like you were going to change the belt until you could see it to inspect it. Here is a link to instructions on inspecting and replacing it.

If you don't have any warning lights showing on your dash, such as a battery light ,
Most likely you have either an idler pulley or a engine accessory , such as a power steering pump, or Air conditioning compressor that is stuck or turning very hard. You should have this checked out as soon as possible, because what ever is causing this , will soon cause your belt to fail again.

A burning rubber smell under the hood might be just that - consider having your accessory drive belt inspected, as it is possible that a bearing in one of the accessories (alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, etc.) or in the tensioner mechanism might be failing. This sort of fault will often cause that particular accessory bearing to spin less freely than the others, and as a result the belt continues to pass over the associated pulley at the same speed as the engine. Essentially, the result is similar to a car spinning its tires on dry pavement - and a similar 'burning rubber' odor is the friction and heat of the rubberized belt.

If the odor is more like burning oil than burning rubber, the rear valve cover gasket is situated in a place that results in dripping oil, even small and unnoticable amounts, onto the exhaust manifold that is directly underneath the valve cover.
