If it is a 3.5 it is located on the front of the engine on the drivers side under the plenum.
On the 2.7L 2000 Intrepid engine, the Cam Position Sensor is directly in front of the upper engine block on the driver's side, next to the timing belt cover. It looks like a little flat electrical plug, about 1"square. with 3 wires. It is held in place with 1 bolt. Mine was a 1/2" hex bolt. The part cost $32, tax included, at AutoZone and took me about 5 minutes to replace. Do NOT over-tighten the bolt. Torque it to 150ftp, or just wrist tighten it about a 1/4 " after it stops turning by hand.
