Will not idle

You got a major problem , may be the oil pump but more then likely you have a worn piston shaft. What i mean by that is the piston uses a rod to connect it to the crankshaft when the connecting shaft get worn it will knock . Stop driving the auto have it have it checked out ASAP if you don't you stand a chance of putting the rod through the engine. Then it toast. Good luck.

The check engine light on?

that is a throttle body male function, open the hood and see the are where your accelerator cable is attached see if that sticks if not then your throttle body needs a service or replacement...

your Accelerator cable may be too tight and might need slacking off abit

However it could be timing screw is also incorrectly set.

could be the idle air control valve, vacuum leak or a bad throttle position sensor.

either dead cell in battery or the idle air sensor or oxygen sensor going bad

FIrst have you tried giving the engine a tune up (ie replaced the spark plugs)

Also you need to check the condition of all the vacumn lines on the engine loss of vacumn can cause poor idling.

check ignition module on distibutor

sound like a simple dead battery.  Jump start it.
