I have a 2004 suzuki forenza lx and my hood pop latch is not operating. the cable is still connected internally and has spring back but not all the way. how do i remedy this without 2 hours and $200 wasted (from dealer)? I am also having problems with the transmission. Took it back to the dealer and they said that there are no codes showing that something is wrong. 17 mpg and transmission downshifts when coasting downhill. Also, when in highest gear, differential will ONLY lock when pressing the accelerator harder. read somewhere on the internet that this could be a tranmisson speed sensor. Any help???
Dab of grease at the hood pop latch thingy
normally one would replace a stretched hood release cable
any adjustment or way to tension the cable at the bonnet catch
never heard of a diff lock on a FWD
no fault codes for transmission
how many miles /kms had the transmission done
transmission uses shift solenoid
or failing torque converter ..(no codes for that )
=service transmission

I had the same problem with my 2006 Forenza - the problem was the transmission range sensor. If you look under the hood, on the drivers side, you'll see your trans. cable connected to a round part that also has an electrical cable coming from it. That is it. Part costs $36.07 at oemsuzukiparts.com (search for Neutral safety switch in the mechanical catalog).

Right on the transmission, to the right side of the engine bay as you are looking down on it. It is a black plastic part that is bolted on the transmission with two 10mm bolts, and connected to the transmission with rod and clip. It is partially obstructed by the radiator hose, but otherwise really easy to get to.

Make sure to check for an adjustment,if there is one, before replacing it.
